How confidential is Prefio?
It is totally confidential. Only you know that you have signed up as a referrer, there are no lists or databases shared with anybody externally. When you make a referral you can elect to either reveal to the potential candidate who you are or remain totally anonymous (our system makes the link between referrers and candidate applications by coded links that don’t have any relationship to your name etc). We have Partners and Directors as referrers (as well as every other level) – so you are in good company – it might well be that some of your colleagues are already amongst our referrers – but you won’t find that out from us.
How do I control what opportunities you send me?
- As part of your sign-up process you let us know which specialisms are appropriate to you. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to work in these specialisms – rather they are areas within which you have some knowledge and network and might be able to refer us to appropriate people. So for instance you might work in a valuations practice, but you quite possibly know people in investment and therefore both areas are applicable to you.
- We send out an email to referrers with all of the live opportunities relevant to your selected specialisms only once a week – you can turn this “on” or “off” by logging in to your referrer account and there is a check-box towards the bottom of the page.
Why do you want evidence of my sector knowledge as part of the sign-up process?
We want to make it easy for you to join Prefio as a referrer, but for your sake and our clients we need to retain a clear focus upon our chosen sectors. We just need some evidence that you have a network within our sectors – if uploading a CV is easiest then that is fine (we won’t mistake you for a candidate) or alternatively some text. We don’t need reams of information – so keep it short and sweet.
I'm a referrer - can I apply for a vacancy that I've received as a referrer?
Yes you can, and of course if the opportunity is right for you then we encourage you to do so. However, you need to be aware that we do not pay the “referrer reward” in a case where the referrer and successful candidate are the same person. The reason is that the new role should be thought of as reward enough and we felt that it would adversely affect the business model if referrers were motivated to join the network because they were primarily looking for a vacancy for themselves.
When do I get paid the reward?
Employers agree when they use Prefio that they will keep us updated particularly as to when they appoint candidates that have come to them via Prefio. When they make such an appointment they are of course liable to pay the referrers reward (and a fee to Prefio). There is a 90 day guarantee period during which time if the candidate were to leave (other than through redundancy) then the referrer reward is repaid to the employer. So the referrer rewards are paid after completion of that guarantee period. If you become aware that a candidate you suggested has taken up the appointment then log-in to your referrer account and use the form to let us know – be aware that it is always possible that the candidate responded to a different referrers email (our system keeps track of that).
